are you dead yet...

Nope. I just live in Arco without internet, reliable phone service, and some other things. No big deal. I am working hard, physically hard. It's summer, so I am not currently teaching. I'm just taking care of the homestead. I go to bed every night with some new ache - it's great! My hands are cracked and bleeding, I am getting more brave at tackling anything cow related, including the actual animal, I am discovering I can actually cook something, learning about SHOUT for Nick's jeans and manure, I am learning about taking care of and keeping up a lawn with massive flower beds, and I am roping the buford while sitting on a horse. I even ran the horse out of the box, while chasing the cow. I will include pictures just in case you don't have a clue what I am talking about.

the buford

the box - the chute is the blue part where the cow comes out. that's what I do, run the chute. yes babe, you can be proud of my cowgirl lingo.

I am doing some more of something that I haven't been the best at - reading. I get up and work hard to get all my chores finished. Then, sometimes I sneak away to my blue chair and sit and read for a few or several minutes. I think a good book is like a dear friend. I miss my dear friends, so reading has been a tender mercy.

I am the primary pianist in my ward and just get to sit there and take in all that primary has to offer. I occasionally place myself next to a rambunctious child. They love it.

I bought a new pair of sandals. The cows don't care, but I felt special wearing them.

I enjoy being married. My cowboy is kind, patient, and cowboyish, and I sure do love him. He roped well tonight, and I ran the chute well. We're a good team.

Rebecca Z took great pictures of the wedding and just told me to figure out which ones I want. I get online rarely, so, I haven't been the best post-bride. I will get on that.

So folks, that's my story.

it finally happened...

well folks, it finally happened. he picked up the ring, he popped the question, he talked to my dad, and i said yes.

sometimes I need only to stand wherever I am to be blessed..

Dear N, I can't believe we've been married five years, today. We've laughed, played, argued, traveled, worked and become something we couldn't have achieved without each other. There's a primary song that says, "God, gave us families to help us become what he wants us to be." He knew I needed you to 'become' a better me. You're my big dreamer and a lingerer. You're my passionate hobbyist and a sincere do-gooder. You're my tease and a talk-it-through-er. So , " Tell me, what is it you plan to do   with your one wild and precious life? I plan to spend mine with you. Much Love, A (quotes by Mary Oliver)

the middle of somewhere

I was sitting here contemplating what fun/project cowboy will have scheduled for us this weekend. Sigh! The past two weekends, my muscles and patience were tested with digging post holes and building fence. I didn't get to do one thing that I wanted! So, not wanting to think about this weekend's hard work, my mind remembered my blog. I haven't thought of it or looked at it for a good bit. So, here I am! I glanced at my last blog post, which was written almost two years ago. It's crazy to look back and remember where I was and where I ended up today. I called my mom at the beginning of the week, and she was telling me about when she and my dad started dating. They were chuckling while remembering, but that is a moment that needed to happen to get from that point to this point. So, here's to progress - good, bad, ugly, fun, and sad! 1. We bought a house, and it wasn't a moment too soon. The home we purchased was an old home that had...
